Companion Notebooks

It is a good idea to keep in touch, and I suppose that keeping in touch is what notebooks are all about.
Joan Didion, “On Keeping a Notebook”

In this workshop, we approach notebooks as companions in the creation process of a choreographic work. As extensions or new organs; entanglements of collected “sparks” that can burst into grandiloquent flames. As choreographic spaces (spaces for dance-writing) and as unique clusters full of potentiality.

Through notebooks, we keep in touch with our choreographic ideas. We befriend them, we exhaust them, we reflect upon them. We write dances, practice dances and share dances. But most importantly, we tap into our notebook-fetish and embrace every impulse to note things down.
